The Internet is based on standards. The many different types of computers are able to talk to each other over the Internet because they're all playing by the same rules… A pre-designed set of standards. HTML, for example, is a text based computer language that can be written with any text editor, on any computer platform. The same HTML page may be interpreted by a different browser running on a different operating system.
