The main focus of the November 1999 Comdex, the show of shows for those in the
computer industry, certainly wasn't the PC or even the Internet for that matter but
that elusive specter, forever on the horizon," the future". Most of my generation
looked to the year 2000 as the threshold to the future. Before Y2K fears were ever
known to us, it was a date that when crossed would open into a wonderland of super
technology with "Jetson" like gadgets and near miraculous scientific innovation.

While everyone on hand for the show had an idea or opinion as to what is in store for
us, consensus was hard to find. Here are a collection of articles stemming from the
