Education/training is a huge business. Disregarding traditional academic education, US businesses spend Billions of dollars every year teaching their employees how to do their jobs better . They do it partly because it is imposed upon them by changing government regulations, partly because of a desire to meet International trade standards like IOS 9000, and almost always because they want to save money or gain a competitive edge. Whatever the primary motivation, training is always looked upon as a two edged sword.
